My students are normally from Cirencester and the nearby towns & villages. My violin pupils range from school-age to the senior adult.

Remember too that whatever age you are, it is never too late to start. My current students range from young beginners through to Grade 8 and beyond. 

​

Getting Started

 

If you are thinking about starting to learn the violin you may be concerned about the cost of violins and how to choose the right violin.

  

Don't rush to buy the first and cheapest offer you see on the internet. Even at the starter end of the marketplace violins vary considerably and it's quite easy to acquire an instrument that simply won't do the job.

Approach to Tuition

 

As for my philosophy of education you might be interested in this  TED VIDEO by Sir Ken Robinson whose views resonate with me to a considerable extent.

I teach classical violin , but if you want to branch out into improvisational styles or folk then I am very happy to help develop your abilities in these areas.

I offer tuition towards external examinations however I place no emphasis on these because for many students exams an impediment to the learning and the enjoyment of the instrument. For those students going on to university or music college the more more advanced grades are of course important.
